CES 2026: Micro RGB technology is taking the TV world by storm

The big news at CES 2026 in the audio-video sector is Micro RGB technology, unveiled by the two Korean giants Samsung and LG. Unlike traditional MiniLED screens with monochrome backlighting, each Micro RGB LED incorporates three sub-diodes (red, green, blue), enabling a wider color gamut (up to 100% of BT.2020), better brightness, greater energy efficiency, and significantly improved contrast—though it still doesn’t quite match OLED.

Samsung has unveiled the R95H, the world's first 130-inch Micro RGB TV, and plans to release models ranging from 55 to 115 inches by 2026.

LG, for its part, unveiled the Micro RGB evo, certified 100% BT.2020, DCI-P3, and Adobe RGB, and equipped with the Alpha 11 AI processor.

Sony hasn't made any official announcement, but a spring launch is expected, as the brand has registered the name "True RGB."

Without a doubt, Micro RGB represents the biggest audio-video breakthrough at this year’s CES and points to a major evolution in the home entertainment experience.
